“After a front porch reconstruction job in 2010, the area in the front of our house was in need of some updating and beautification. The yews were done, both in terms of life span and appeal.

Enter landscape designer Melissa Wittenborn, who came up with a design that not only updated the plantings, but also enhanced our home’s curb appeal, with winter interest and color from spring to fall. Score!

One of my favorites is the Tiger Eyes sumac, which is beautiful in the fall. And the smokebush makes a statement without obscuring the front of the house. And it seems to be a plant that I don’t see in everyone else’s yard,  a big plus for me.

The plants, from the phlox to the grasses, have filled in nicely. I like to garden so I have added to the plantings. The combination of the plants’ growth and filling-in, along with my added plantings on my part mean I will have some thinning to do this spring!

My husband and I are so happy with how Melissa’s landscape design has continued to evolve as the plantings mature. When we are doing yard work in the summer, it’s not unusual for people walking by the house to stop and tell us how lovely our yard looks. And I love how it looks!”
